Sometimes, the simplest photos are the hardest to make. How do you make an impeccable portrait of a loved-one or of a friend on the spot and with only the help of natural lighting? Basically, how do you go without the studio and all its controllability, and be satisfied with an expressive and lucid portrait?

Taking into account the environment is essential. Managing colors and graphics in the background, choosing the point of view, directing the model - these are all points that will be covered in this class.

Light control is an equally important aspect: in particular, reading the moment's available light and using it wisely will be detailed in order to succeed in making a portrait.

This workshop will teach you:
- How to observe the environment so as to guide your aesthetic choices: point of view, directing a model
- How to read lighting and orienting your subject accordingly
- How to correct define parameters in your camera in relation to your desired result
- Frame and compose an image to visually show off the subject

The workshop lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes - it includes a theoretic explanation, a central "practical" part, as well as a debriefing of the class.

The class takes place outdoors at Ixelles (near Flagey's place) and the debriefing will be in a coffee shop (our treat).
The exact meeting will be given to the enrollers.

Lesphotographes.org offers photography classes and workshops in Paris, London, Brussels, Geneva or Helsinki. You can enroll online for our photo workshops or classes taught by well-known photographers and high-quality teachers. You can participate in a variety of learning experiences, including half-days, full-days, week-long, or weekends. Our digital reflex camera courses are taught outdoors, in the streets of Paris. You will receive an e-mail announcement containing the necessary information about where to meet your group of 6-7 people maximum.

Discover our photo trips and our photo classes for beginners, in order to become more familiar with your digital reflex camera. Payment in three increments, without extra charge, is available for our non-profit association's prices. Our photo workshops will teach techniques for all camera owners, digital or analog, and our workshops offer you intensive experiences, both technically and personally.
